Mariella’s Skinny Bakery was born out of a desire to bake healthier desserts for more people to be able to enjoy. Creating something that doesn’t skimp on good quality ingredients, flavour or passion but with much lower calories is our drive and one we have worked day and night for.
With over 10 years of experience under Mariella’s belt and nearly 100 different flavours trialled and having graced the virtual shelves at one time or another, this search for a tasty lower-calorie treat has well and truly been cracked. But how and what does it actually mean in the cakes and bakes you know and love?
We use fruit and veggies to sweeten our cakes
From sweet potato in our Doughnuts and Brownies to real carrots in our Carrot Pearls, and fresh fruit purees where ever we can, we replace sugar with natural ingredients and avoid artificial sweeteners to make our bakes taste great.
Rather than taking things away, we add in more of what’s good for you.
We use low-fat dairy and tofu to make seriously good frostings
Frosting on a cake really does top off a delicious bake, but a lot of the time it can be high in saturated fats and sugars. Using tofu and low-fat dairy alternatives in our frostings means we still get a silky smooth filling to all our treats but with much lower fat, sugar and calorie content. Using tofu also means that we have developed a fantastic range of Made Without Dairy and Vegan Pearls not to mention our fantastic new Frosting Spreads.

We don’t use artificial sweeteners, artificial colours or artificial flavours
Our ingredients speak volumes. From free-range egg and egg white to Callebaut’s Belgian chocolate, we search high and low to get the very best products to put into our cakes. This is why we never use anything like artificial flavours, artificial colours or artificial sweeteners. When the ingredients we use pack a punch on their own there really is no need for any nasties.
Even our Red Velvet Pearls get their beautiful colour from beetroot and that orange in our Choc-Orange Pearls, well it’s orange!
